Carolyn Wood

Ann “Carolyn” Wood, 88, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born in Lunsford, Arkansas, to the late Frank and Velma Pugh. Carolyn graduated from Bay High School and throughout her life enjoyed quilting, collecting dolls, and going to yard sales.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Ray” Wood, and seven siblings.

Survivors include her sons, Jim Byrd of Jonesboro, Mike Byrd (Susan) of Jonesboro, Billy Byrd (Lisa) of Bono, and JR Wood of Jonesboro; daughters, Darlene King (Homer) of Jonesboro and Sheila Byrd of Henderson, Nevada; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

Visitation will be held from 9:30–10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Emerson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m., with Harles Banks officiating. Burial will take place at Nettleton Cemetery, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
