Carolyn Steinegger Payne, 86, of Jonesboro passed away Friday January 12, 2018 at The Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

She had been an active member of The Nazarene Church since her youth and had served as a musician, youth ministry leader, SS teacher and many other areas of ministry and service. She was a member of Forest Home Church of the Nazarene. She was retired from State Farm Insurance Claims Office in Jonesboro and had been a volunteer in the gift shop at St Bernard’s Hospital Auxiliary.

Carolyn was a friend and a lady and was loved by many.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert A (Bob) Payne of the home; one son, Robert "Bobby" (Vickie) Payne Jr. of Jonesboro; two daughters, Rebecca (Becky) Williams of Greenville NC, and Beverly Adams of Jonesboro; one son-in-law, Phillip Adams of Jonesboro; one brother, Fred (Jane) Steinegger of Jonesboro; 7 grandchildren: Allison Lambert (Ron) Louks of Greenville NC, Ashley (Paul) Wischnewsky and Allen (Jennifer) Jones of Humble TX, Lance (Ashley) Shepard, Kyndal Payne, and Lauren Adams of Jonesboro, and Bryan (Kimberly) Shepard of Santa Clarita, CA; and 12 great grandchildren: Tanner and Gracie Wischnewsky of Humble TX, Luke and Grant Brodeur of Greenville NC, Charlee and Maddox Adams and Kaylie Taylor all of Jonesboro, Emma, Addy, and Cole Shepard all of Jonesboro, John Robert Jones of Humble TX, and Dixon Shepard of Santa Clarita, CA.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Ernest A and Myrtle (Halford) Steinegger and one sister Mary Louise (Mrs. Neil) Stallings of Jonesboro.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in Forest Home Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ken Stallings officiating. Burial will follow at Kellers Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:00-1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
