Carolyn Drew Province, 79, of Jonesboro passed from this life, Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born March 15, 1939 in Victoria to the late Vernon Elijah "Doc" and Sarah Elizabeth “Sis” (Watson) Harlan. Carolyn graduated
from Osceola High School Class of 1957 and later graduated from Arkansas State University in 1961.
While at ASU she played in the Marching Band. After college Carolyn started teaching Elementary School in Kaiser. During her 30 plus years of teaching Carolyn also taught at Nettleton Elementary and Jonesboro Elementary Schools. While at Jonesboro Public Schools she was the Coordinator for the Follow Through Program. Carolyn also served as POSEE President at West Elementary School, Scout Leader at West Elementary School and was the First female Pack Master for NEA Boy Scouts.
On May 26, 1962 Carolyn married the late Cecil K. Province Jr. She was a member of Highland Drive Baptist Church. Carolyn enjoyed reading, singing at the church, calligraphy, writing, quilting and serving at church.
In addition to her husband and parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dowell Brooks Harlan and Ronald Kent Harlan.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Cecil Knight Province III of Jonesboro, Kevin Blake Province of Batesville; 2 grandchildren, Blaine Mackenzie Province of Jonesboro, Falen Drew Province of Jonesboro and sister n law, Sandy Harlan.
Funeral service will be Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Drive Baptist Church with Johnny Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
