Carolyn Sue Massey

Carolyn Sue Massey, 79, of Jonesboro, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, November 12, 2021, at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center.  She was born on December 31, 1941, to Shelby and Jesse Pennington in Lepanto, Arkansas.  She was a member of the Union Grove Methodist Church.  When Carolyn was around, nobody was a stranger.  She loved everyone she met, and everybody considered her a kind, sweet, and good-hearted lady.  Time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren was one of her most prized possessions.  When not taking care of her home or family, she enjoyed gardening and painting.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Massey, her parents, and her son, Johnny Massey.

Survivors include her son, David Massey and wife, Tabatha; daughter, Cathy Heckman, all of Jonesboro; brothers, Shelby Dale Pennington of Mountain View; Jimmy Pennington of Louisiana;  sisters, Jean Lambert of Mountain Home; Shirley Denton of Jonesboro; Debbie Pennington of Clover Bend; grandchildren, Logan Heckman, Sara (Stephen) Russell and Phillip Massey; great grandchildren, Raylee Russell and Brynlee Russell.

Graveside services will be 2:00 Monday, November 15, 2021 at Trinity Cemetery with J. R. Lamberth, Jr. officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  Visitation will be from noon Monday until 1:30.
