Carolyn Markle Langford

Carolyn Markle Langford, 79, of Jonesboro died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.  She had lived her entire life in Jonesboro and was of the Christian Science belief.  She was a Chi Omega Sorority member, and a member of the Twentieth Century Club.  Carolyn was a third generation member and past chapter president of the C.F. chapter of  P.E.O.  She received her bachelor’s and master’s from Arkansas State University and worked in education, mostly as a guidance counselor for over 38 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Minor and Mary Markle; one brother, Dr. Minor M. Markle III; and a niece Carolyn Elizabeth “Betsy” Elk Phillips.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 53 years, Robert M “Bud” Langford, of the home; daughter, Lisa Langford Talley of Jonesboro; fraternal twin sister, Marilyn Markle Dee (Matthew) of Granger, Indiana and Scottsdale, Arizona; grandsons, Nick Talley and Robert Talley; nephew, John Minor Elk (Amy) and a host of other loved ones and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Emerson Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with Nick Talley, Robert Talley, John Minor Elk, Matthew Dee, David Hughey, and Dr. Michael J. Smith serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Rankin, Bobby Puryear, current and past members of P.E.O.  Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Thursday.
