Carolyn Hickey was a loving mother and adoring grandmother who cherished her family. She taught elementary school for over 25 years in the North Little Rock School District. She taught her own children to love others, live in faith, and be open minded. Carolyn loved to be with her large family of 5 siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. She enjoyed making mischief with her friends, veraciously reading books of all sorts, listening to music and other’s stories at the local Outback, Panera, and Starbucks, drinking her Diet Coke, and eating dark chocolate or chocolate cake if it sounded good to her at the time. She was sassy and quick witted. She enjoyed the beach, a good meal and a glass of merlot. She loved music and art, especially Peter Max and Guaguin. During her time living in St. Louis, she enjoyed volunteering at the Botanical garden and visiting with her neighbors.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her mother and father, Catherine and Joseph P. Hickey, brother Raymond Hickey, and granddaughter Mercy E. Whitfield.
She is survived by two sisters, Sandy Switzer (Richard Switzer), and Dr. Rosemary Hickey (David Thornally); sister in law Katie Hickey; two brothers, Josesph Hickey (Susan Hickey) and Paul Hickey (Carol Hickey); her three children - Allison D’Auteuil (Rodney Whitfield), Laura Riley (Marty Riley), and Steven Dodd; and five grandchildren - Reese Riley, Grace Whitfield, Justice Whitfield, Righteous Whitfield, and Emma Kate Riley.
Carolyn is fervently loved and will be fiercely missed by all who knew her.
