Carolyn Jean Douglas

Carolyn Douglas, 61, of Paragould, died August 21, 2012 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born in Jonesboro and had been a resident of northeast Arkansas her entire life. Carolyn was a great supporter of Arkansas State University. Carolyn graduated from ASU with a Bachelor Degree and had only recently retired from ASU, in June, having worked in the Finance Office. Upon her retirement, she and her husband went on an Alaskan Cruise. She loved reading the Bible and Christian books, traveling, flowers, hummingbirds, butterflies and relaxing with her dog, Trinity. She was a breast cancer survivor and was honored by Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. She also gave the gift of life by being an organ donor with Mid-America Transplant Services. She was of the Baptist belief and had many interests in her life but one of the greatest things for her was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of almost 45 years, Danny Douglas; son, Dewayne Douglas; daughter-in-law Tammy Douglas; grandchildren, Devin Douglas and Seth Douglas all of Paragould; her brothers and sisters, Kennith Johnson, California, Larry Johnson, Austin, Texas, Joyce Stanley, Paragould, Jerry Johnson, Johnny Johnson, and Daniel Johnson, all of Batesville, and Sharon Johnson, Paragould; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan Newton & Theba Jean Hanks Johnson.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Daniel Johnson officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
