Carolyn Craig

G. Carolyn Craig, 82, of Jonesboro, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at her home, of natural causes.

Carolyn was born in Lake City and was a 1956 graduate of Bay High School. Following graduation, she moved to Jonesboro where she lived most of her life.

Carolyn worked much of her life as a medical secretary for a physician's office and  after retirement from the medical field worked a few years in the retail footwear business. She was a long-time member of Friendship Baptist Church and enjoyed being a "Mamaw" to her grandchildren. Carolyn  missed very few of the grandchildren's activities, ballgames, recitals or shows.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents: Newt Sylvester Crow and Gertrude Crow Johnson, a brother, Jimmy Lynn Crow, and a sister, Jean Kitterman.

Survivors include:

3 daughters: Terri Ham and Lisa Simmons (Jeff), all of Jonesboro, and Toni Calvert (Wesley) of Jena, Louisiana;

1 sister, Jo Chester (Charles) of Jackson, Mississippi;

9 grandchildren: Ashlyn Ham, Caroline Ham, Jennifer Windham, Russell Dorton, Michael Moody, Casey Calvert, Sloane Simmons, Slade Simmons and Cade Simmons; and

10 great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday in Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. Danny Jackson officiating, and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and there will be no visitation.
