Carolyn Virginia Petrey Allen

Carolyn Virginia Petrey Allen, 88, of Jonesboro, AR passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023. She was born January 21, 1935 in Florala, AL to George Frank Petrey Jr. and Willie Ray Thompson Petrey.

She was a 1953 graduate of Covington County High School, Florala, AL and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL.

Carolyn was a 35-year resident of Pensacola where she taught Language Arts to special-needs students at Lakeview Center. After retiring, she moved to Jonesboro, AR, where she was a faithful member of Friendly Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Christopher J. Allen (Claudia) of Frederick, MD and Kimberly C. McEuen of Jonesboro, AR; her grandchildren, Matthew Allen of Ohio, Jessica Gregory (Thomas) of Norfolk, VA and Holly McEuen of Little Rock, AR; cousins, Bill and Jean Needham of Tallahassee, FL, Fred and Bitsy Morgan of Winston-Salem, NC and Jake and Cammie Wingard of Crestview, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Jennifer A. Caro.

She leaves a legacy of many friends and countless lives impacted by her wit, her joy, and her unconditional love for each person she knew.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made on Carolyn’s behalf to Friendly Hope Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

Services and burial will be held privately.
