Carole Ward Gilliam

Carole Ward Gilliam, 89, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Thursday January 9, 2025 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born on July 28, 1935 in Jonesboro to the late Dewey and Bonnie Catherine Ward.

Carole has lived in Jonesboro all of her life and was a devoted member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Carole was a loving grandmother who treasured her grandkids. She loved doing anything with St. Mark’s and even helped them start the Feed the Hungry Program. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening.

In addition to her parents, Carole is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Doyle Gilliam; brothers, Ronald Ward and Stephen Ward and sister, Jeanne Ward.

She is survived by her daughter, Andrea (David) Deberry of Hernando, Mississippi; sons, Dr. Arnold Gilliam of Jonesboro and Joseph (Sally) Mabrey of Conyers, Georgia; brother, Norman Ward of Little Rock; grandchildren, Cooper (Amber) Skelton, Chloe (Joe) Berry, Rachel (Alex) Barnett, Aaron Gilliam and Clark Mabrey as well as a great-grandchild, Cameron Barnett.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 15, 2025 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Jonesboro.
