Carol Busch Patteson

November 7, 1929 — January 31, 2012

Carol Busch Patteson, 82, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at her home on Harrisburg Rd., She was born in New York City and lived on Long Island until the age of 16, when she moved with her family to Memphis. She was a graduate of Miss Hutchison School for Girls in Memphis and Stephens College in Columbia , Mo., where she majored in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing. She later worked in retailing at Helen of Memphis.
Carol was a homemaker, a member of the Jonesboro Junior Auxiliary, a Red Cross Bloodmobile volunteer, and an avid patron of the Jonesboro Craighead County Public Library. She also had served on the Craighead County Quorum Court. She was a member of the Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard C. and Helen J. Busch, and by an infant daughter, Katherine Gwen Patteson.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Alan Guy Patteson, Jr.; three daughters: Chris Patteson of Scottsdale, AZ, Lucia Patteson of Memphis, TN, Ellen Patteson McGehee of Jonesboro; two sons: Alan Guy Patteson, III of Jonesboro and Richard Busch Patteson of Tyler, TX; six grandchildren: Samuel Angus McGehee, Kiley Patteson Steele, Ana Starke McGehee, Natalie Patteson Jones, Daniel Lee Jones, Jr., and Flora Jane Patteson; one brother, the Rev. Richard A. Busch of Arlington, VA
Carol will be especially remembered by her family for her spontaneous wit, her smile, her loyalty, her love and no-nonsense dedication to family. She was totally without guile. What you saw was what you got.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 – 7pm at Emerson Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00am Friday, February 3, 2012, at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard A. Busch officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sue Garland, Barbara Weinstock, Sheila Guinn, Dixie Owens, Joyce Brown, Gail Davis, Elaine Hallum, Wilma Martin, Charlott Jones, Sara Raney Howell, Kathy Laird Caldwell, and Claire Parker Nix.
The family will be receiving guests at the family home Immediately following the service.
