Cara West, 54, of Walnut Ridge passed from this life Saturday, February 8, 2020 in Houston, Texas after a short, but brave battle against Leiomyosarcoma. She was born September 13, 1965 in Paragould to the late Maurice and Eula Hurd. Cara was a Wife, Mother, Homemaker, Bible School Teacher and a Restauranteur. She was the owner of The Dark Side Coffee House in Walnut Ridge. Cara was known as a great cook, caterer and barista, but her lifelong passion was sewing. She designed and sold handmade ties and bowties. Her brand, “Just Tie One on” sold and shipped nationally and to 11 countries. Cara was a 1983 graduate of CRA and attended college at CRC, in Paragould. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Hoxie. Cara’s favorite thing to do was spending time at the beach with family and a good book.
In addition to her parents, Cara is preceded in death by her brother, David Hurd.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Dan West of the home; 3 daughters, Maddison (Zach) Wilkerson of Memphis, Victoria (Aaron) Chaffin of Austin, Texas, Clancy (Jackson) Law of Walnut Ridge; son, Reece West of the home; granddaughter, Zelda Chaffin; a grandson soon to arrive, Atticus Law; sister, Elizabeth Mills of Manhattan and a brother, Tim Hurd of Paragould.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00 am in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bill Wheeler and Matthew Ballentine officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 am prior to the service.
