Calla Mae Pack

September 2, 1938 — October 20, 2011

Calla Mae Pack, 73, of Jonesboro, passed from this life into Heaven on October 20, 2011 at NEA Baptist Hospital. Please join our family in celebrating the life of Calla Mae Pack. Calla Mae would not wish us to be in sorrow, but to celebrate her transformation to the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born Ruthie Calla Mae Cole in Cushman, and was raised in Jonesboro where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Dossie Pack. Calla Mae lived a full life serving others selflessly and without need of recognition.

Calla Mae and Dossie originally owned a beauty school and beauty shop in Jonesboro. They moved to Fort Worth, later returning to be close to family and friends. Calla Mae served at every opportunity that was presented to her. She was a Sunday school teacher at Highland Drive Baptist Church for many years, was a foster parent to over 300 foster children in Texas, and played softball for over thirty years. She loved the Texas Rangers and the Memphis Grizzlies.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Cole and Raymond Cole. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dossie Pack, daughters, Pam Gregg and husband Freddy Gregg, Karen Bayless and husband Craig Bayless, and Lisa Wilkinson and husband Kerry Wilkinson, sisters, Melba Crites, Virginia Barnett, Kathy Shearer, and Connie Cervany, brothers, Melvin Cole and Larry Cole, and 10 grandchildren. We all will miss her greatly until we are reunited with our Savior in His time (1 Thessalonians 4:15-18).

Those wishing to make donations are encouraged to send them to the NEA Baptist Hospital, ATTN: Oncology, 3024 Stadium Blvd, Jonesboro, AR 72401.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Friday October 21st at Emerson Funeral Home. Celebration of Life will be held graveside at 10:00am at Mount Zion Cemetery, Saturday, October 22nd. We welcome you to join the procession from Emerson Funeral Home to Mount Zion Cemetery that will leave at 9:15am Saturday.
