C. B. “Simp” Simpkins, 78, of Fifty Six, Arkansas, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Cross Ridge Community Hospital in Wynne. C.B. was of the Methodist belief. He was very active in the Boy Scouts, was an Assistant Scout Master, and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Simp was the first male den mother for the cub scouts in the United States and made the national news when he received this position. He worked for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company for 23 years and for McDonalds for 13 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Benjamin Simpkins Sr. and Fonnie Della Maxwell, and one brother Jim Simpkins.
Survivors include his sons, Mike Simpkins (Shelia) of Jonesboro; Bobby Simpkins (Jean) of Wynne; and Lee Simpkins (Darlene) of Pocahontas; sister, Norma Jean Westbrook of Jonesboro; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Shiloh Methodist Church, 520 CR 773, Jonesboro Arkansas 72401.
