Burnis Lee Lammers, 88, of Jonesboro passed away July 11, 2023 at St. Bernards Medical Center. Burnis was born in Beebe, Arkansas on December 16, 1934 to Herman and Louella Lammers.
Since 1995, Burnis has called Jonesboro home. Burnis was a jack of all trades and had many careers throughout his life. He was a barber, a businessman, and a truck driver, to name a few. Burnis was also a proud member of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War.
Burnis loved fishing and watching Westerns – Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and anything with John Wayne were his favorites. He also loved the Andy Griffith Show and could quote just about any episode. Above all else, Burnis loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Burnis is preceded in death by Mary Lammers, his wife and mother of his sons; his wife of 18 years, Betty Lammers; his sons, Mike, Richard, and Gary Lammers; his bonus sons, Page and Don Gibson; brothers, Doyn, Joe, Virgil, and Frank “Tennie” Lammers; sisters, Anna Mary and Ola Johnson; and his parents, Herman and Louella.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Johnnie Lammers; bonus daughter, Judy (John) Tworoger; bonus son, Kim Gibson; grandchildren, Nick, Shannon, Shawn, Christy, and Malory; several dear great-grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14 at Emerson Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at McDaniel Cemetery on Saturday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Glenn Hurst officiating.
