Burnis Earl Glasco Sr.

Burnis Earl Glasco Sr., 59, of Jonesboro went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at his home in Jonesboro.

He was born in Jonesboro on August 19, 1948, the second child of Alex (Buddy) Glasco and Ruby Alene Masterson Glasco.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Noma Jean Glasco; sons BJ (Lisa) Glasco, Larry (Shawna) Glasco, daughter, Tammy (Brian) Webb all of Jonesboro. Six grandchildren, Travis Glasco, Tyler Webb, Amber Webb, Austin Glasco, Ziven Pare, and Tabitha Glasco; three brothers Dawayne Glasco, Michael Glasco, of Jonesboro, and Loran Glasco of Denver, North Carolina; one sister Vicki Copeland of Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Ruby Glasco.

Burnis was a SP-5 Special Forces Green Beret in Vietnam from 1968 – 1972. He left service with the honor of a Bronze Star for bravery and a Purple Heart for wounds received during the war. After his service in Vietnam, Burnis moved to St. Charles, Illinois where he served as a policeman in Valley View, Illinois. In 1981, Burnis and his family returned to Jonesboro where he retired from Riceland Foods Inc. in 2005.

A longtime charter member of the Valley View Missionary Baptist Church, his church family was an important part of his life and he left this world with the privilege of being a part of the church.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bobby Floyd officiating and Elvis Brandon presenting a reading. Burial and military funeral honors will following at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are his nephews, Robbie Glasco, L.G. Glasco, Joey Perry, Jimmy Combs, Tyler Copeland and Scott Bridgeman. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Adult #1 Sunday School Class from Valley View Missionary Baptist Church.
