Burley “Wayne” Bynum, 76, of Jonesboro died Monday January 28, at the Med in Memphis. He was born in Caraway, Arkansas on January 14, 1937 to Gib and Ide Alsup Bynum and had lived in Jonesboro for 16 years, moving here from Caraway.
Wayne was a Chief of Police for Caraway and was a retired Fireman for Eakers Air Force Base. Wayne was also an Air Force Veteran and of the Church of Christ belief.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 1 sister.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife; Mary Bynum of the home. 2 sons; Jim Bynum (Jeweline) of Paragould and Jerry Bynum (Frankie) of Caraway.
4 daughters; Cherrie Kassen (Paul) of Jonesboro, Tanya Mardis (Dennis) of Jonesboro, Alice Lain (Fred) of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jamey Stevens of Jonesboro.
14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday January 31, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Courtney Schmidt officiating. Burial will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Thursday January 31, at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
