Bruce Neal Wheeler, 64, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Monday, December 3, 2018, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born and raised in Rector, Bruce entered active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps in July of 1972. He was active duty four years, serving 1 year, 11 months and 27 days in foreign assignments, completing his diploma requirements in Naples, Italy while stationed there. Bruce moved to Jonesboro in 1979 and worked several years for Tobacco Sales Company and then Snyder, Inc. before retiring.
Bruce was a member of Central Baptist Church in Jonesboro and was preceded in death by his parents: J.E. and Willowdean Lawrence Wheeler; 2 brothers: Ronald Allen Wheeler and Ricky Lynn Wheeler; a brother-in-law, Samuel O'dell Rogers; and two infant grandchildren born into Heaven.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Burns Wheeler of the home;
1 son and daughter-in-law: Christopher and Whitney Wheeler of Goobertown;
1 daughter and son-in-law: Anita and Shaun Hicks of Jonesboro;
2 brothers: Dennis Lee Wheeler of Rector and Brian Scott Wheeler of Paragould;
2 sisters and brother-in-law: Deborah Rogers of Maynard and Belinda and Dwayne Foster of Poplar Bluff; and
4 grandchildren: Reid Wheeler, Drake Wheeler, Mackenzie Hicks and Keagan Hicks.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Jerry Jolly officiating. Kenny Burns will deliver the eulogy and son Christopher Wheeler will administer military honors. There will be no visitation.
