Brooks E. Lackey, 75, of Jonesboro, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.
Brooks was born in Memphis and lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He was a 1959 graduate of Jonesboro High School and was a U.S. Army veteran and was stationed in Korea and Germany during his service. Brooks was Director of National Accounts for Colson Caster Corporation where he worked 37 years. Before joining Colson, Brooks worked three years at City Water and Light and also owned Snelling and Snelling Employment Agency in Jonesboro for a period of time.
Brooks was a member of Highland Drive Baptist Church, enjoyed playing golf and was an avid ASU Redwolves sports fan. For several years he played softball and was a member of Etter Painting Softball team. Brooks loved water sports and spending time on Lake Norfork with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents: Tommy and Lucille Wiles Lawson, wife Retha Lackey and brother Jim Lackey.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law: Selena and Chris Bloodworth of Jonesboro;
son and daughter-in-law: Scott and Michelle Lackey of Jackson, Tennessee;
sister-in-law: Mary Lackey of Jonesboro; a niece: Angela Lackey Loughary of Jonesboro; and
4 grandchildren and spouse: Bret and Madison Bloodworth, Kasen Bloodworth, Skylar Lackey and Sydney Lackey.
A graveside committal service will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in Unity Cemetery west of Jonesboro. A memorial service will be at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Hutchison officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at the church.
Active pallbearers include Earl Duffell, Jim Penny, Charles Burge, James Jones, Bruce Barnes and Gary Eubanks.
