Brian Douglas Dover, 54, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 29, 1970, in West Memphis, Arkansas, he was the beloved son of Wayne and Sandra Dover.
Brian spent his early childhood in Lepanto before moving to Jonesboro during junior high. A proud graduate of the Jonesboro High School Class of 1988, Brian went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1992. He continued his education at the University of Arkansas School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1996. He began his own practice as an attorney. In 1998, Brian married the love of his life, Ruth Allison. Together, they lived in Philadelphia, Mississippi, before returning to Jonesboro in 2002.
Brian was a devoted outdoorsman who found joy and peace in fly fishing for trout and hunting deer, turkey, and duck. He was also a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church, where he regularly volunteered with youth programs. Deeply committed to education and community service, he gave his time generously to the Jonesboro Public Schools’ reading program.
Above all, Brian was a family man who treasured the time spent with his loved ones. His gentle spirit, generous heart, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Brian was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ruth Allison Dover; his son, Charlie Dover of Jonesboro; his daughter, Georgia Dover of Santa Barbara, California; his parents, Wayne and Sandra Dover of Jonesboro; and his sister, Julie Butler and her husband Jake of Fayetteville.
There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, May 10th at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church with a visitation held prior to the memorial service from 1-2pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association ( Alz.org )
