Jonesboro

Brenda Marie Reeves Jeffries, 81, of Jonesboro, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.

Born October 5, 1943, in Woodruff County, Arkansas, to Luther “Duzom” and Bonnie Belle Reeves, Brenda moved to Jonesboro in 1963 from Southern California and made it her home for over 60 years.

Brenda was a member of Nettleton Church of Christ. She was also the longtime owner and operator of Jeffries Tax Service, where she proudly served her community with dedication and care.

Brenda was best known for her warmth, sense of humor, and love for her family. She was a talented cook who delighted in preparing meals for those she loved — her chicken and dressing and chicken and dumplings were family favorites. Her kindness was especially evident in her love for children; she truly never met a baby she didn’t adore — and the feeling was always mutual. Affectionately known to many as “Aunt Grandma,” she had a way of making everyone feel like family.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Tommy, Pete, and Bobby Reeves; and her sisters, Sharon Reeves and Tanna Reeves.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Charles L. Jeffries of the home; daughters, Peggy Jeffries and Elizabeth “Liz” Jeffries; sister, Kathy Reeves Self; and nephew/son, Steven Reeves and friend John Valverde — all of Jonesboro. She also leaves behind her cherished sister-in-law, Eula Storey of Lawrenceville, Georgia; grandchildren, Daisy Blossom Doty, Molly Doty, and Beau Doty, all of Jonesboro; along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, with arrangements entrusted to Emerson Funeral Home. Visitation will take place the evening prior, Monday, September 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel. A burial will follow later that day at 2 p.m. at the East Richwoods Cemetery, also known as the Case Cemetery, located on Luber Road in Stone County, Arkansas on the Foster farm for close family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
