On Wednesday, July 28, 2010, Brad Higgins, of Jonesboro, lost his battle with cancer but won his battle for the Lord. He fought the good fight, finished his course, kept the faith; henceforth he received his crown of righteousness.
Brad’s number one love was to spread the good news of his Lord, Jesus Christ with others. He hoped that as many as he could witness to would be saved and be prepared to go to heaven where he now resides. He loved his family and his church family.
He was a devoted and loving husband and father. He worked hard to be a good example to them and others.
He was currently pastor of Peach Orchard Pentecostal Church in Peach Orchard, Arkansas. He was a mechanic in his self owned business at his home on Nestle Way in Jonesboro until becoming disabled a few months ago. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle in the small amount of free time he had.
He was a man who will never be forgotten; a man whose sons have said his footsteps could never be followed but they would do their best to make him proud and follow his example.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Terrie Higgins; his sons, Cody Higgins, Jesse Higgins; parents, Ray & Patricia Higgins; brother, Jeff Higgins; mother-in-law, Joyce Adams; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Angie & Eric Bolin, Connie & Jim Johnson, Mary Brooks, all of Jonesboro; nephews, Ben Bryant, Matt Johnson, Dillon Johnson, Koen Poyner; 2 nieces Tera Bryant, Kaitlynn Higgins; and one soon to be arriving great niece, Hallie Grace Bryant.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, R.B. & Lorene Higgins and Bill & Mildred Crews; and his father-in-law, J.W. “Dub” Adams.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jim Rupard and Jerry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be Gary Barker, David Cobb, Tony Bass, Bryan Bass, Ben Morgan, and Pat Bader.
Visitation will be Friday 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
