Boyce E. Coggins, 80, of Caraway, died Wednesday at V.A. Medical Center in Memphis. He was born in Strawberry but lived most of his life in the Caraway area. He loved to hunt, fish, spend time with his family, and visit with friends and family. He was a Korean Army veteran having received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Mangrum Church of Christ.
He is survived by his sons, Danny Coggins, Huntsville, AR, Brock Coggins, Caraway, Greg Coggins, Tallahassee, FL, Tim Coggins, Paragould, John Coggins, Caraway; daughter, Robin Harper, Caraway; brothers, Vernon Coggins, Horn Lake, MS, Wilburn Coggins, Caraway, Don Coggins, Jonesboro; sisters, Armelda Lee, Jonesboro, Madge Taylor, Caraway; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Neva Coggins; parents, James Walter & Elois Mauney Coggins; a son, Mitchell Coggins; brothers, Paul, Verl, Claude Coggins; sister, Lorene Pucket; and grandson, Kris Coggins.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Caraway Cemetery with Chub Qualls officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
His sons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Paragould Children’s Home, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, Arkansas, 72450.
