Boyce ‘Butch’ Wilkins, 75, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 surrounded by family. He died at his home in Bono, AR from complications of a lung transplant.
Butch was born in Batesville, AR on August 14, 1946 to his parents, Gene Wilkins and Eunice Morgan.
Butch spent most of his school years in Lake City, AR. He graduated with the class of 1964. Not long after graduation he joined the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission serving 36 years. Butch’s love of people and animals made him very successful in his position. After his retirement he was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives and served six years until term limits. Among his successes as state representative, he worked tirelessly for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and was on numerous public health committees.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Patsy Wilkins.
Butch is survived by his daughters Kimberly Barnes of Hardy, AR; Rhonda Sutton of Rogers, AR; Kimberly (Dave) Fires of Bono, AR; and Christi (Jimmy) Bales of Bono, AR; in addition to 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Butch’s siblings are sister Bettye Hall of Galveston, TX; sister Gail (Terry) Green of Little Rock, AR; sister Kay (James) Stricklin of Memphis, TN; and brother Terry (Vicki) Wilkins of Jonesboro, AR.
A visitation will be held @ 2pm on Saturday August 13th followed by a memorial service @3pm. Honorary Pallbearers include Brad Tidwell, Mitchell McClure, Joshua Wilkins, Nicolas McClure, Brittany Watters, Austin Sutton, and Ethan Bales.
