Bobby Norman Platz

Bobby Platz, 76, of Lake City left this world on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.

Bobby was born on August 6, 1937 to the late Ivan and Eva Osborne Platz in Leachville. He has lived most of his life NE Arkansas, but he moved in the mid 1950’s to southern IL where he worked and retired from Caterpillar Corporation. In 1979 he moved back to Lake City where he worked and retired from Craighead County Road Department. He was a loving person that would help anyone in need, and he loved to be outdoors. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles and four wheelers. His loving soul will be missed but not forgotten.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Catherine Platz; and one grandson, John Meeker.

He was survived by his loving wife, Sandra Platz of the home; three sons and their wives, Thomas (Jaymie) Platz of Jonesboro, Ronnie (Wanda) Platz and Michael (Beth) Platz both of Lake City; two daughters, Mary Frances O’Neal of Lake City, Janice Clifton of Jonesboro; three step children, Corrall Meeker and Gary Meeker Sr. of Bono, Lorie (Kevin) Elmore of Brookland, and Bart Morrison of Jonesboro; three brothers, Billy Gene Platz of Monette, Garland Wayne Platz and James Platz both of Lake City; one sister, Barbara Kitter of Monette; grandchildren, Christina Gefford, Alexander Platz, Samantha Tarver, Jaymes Platz, Miranda O’Neal, Nathan O’Neal, Tosha Hadl, Crystal Valadez, Amanda Cunningham, Amy Brooks, Ronnie Platz Jr., Torri Sneed, Becky Sneed, Karri Crane, and Jessica Robinson; six step grandchildren, Breana Franks, Gary Meeker Jr. Megan Schmitt, Joshua Morrison, Brian Cornish, and Vicki Hitchcock; 37 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday morning at Emerson Funeral Home from 9-12pm, and immediately following visitation will be a private graveside service with Bro. Austin Misscy officiating. Emerson Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Alexander Platz, Jaymes Platz, Nathan O’Neal, RJ Platz, Gary Meeker Jr., and Brian Cornish.
Honorary pallbearers are Shane Hadl and Phillip Hitchcock.

The family would like to invite all family and friends to eat lunch with them at the Church of Jesus Christ for Latter Day Saints at 2pm on Saturday directly after the graveside service.
