Bobby Leroy Henry Sr. 86, of Jonesboro, passed from this life Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Memphis, TN at Regional One Medical Center. Bobby was born to the late Leroy Earl and Mattie Treva Henry in Bono, Arkansas on June 27, 1935. He lived and attended school in Bono graduating in 1953. Bobby enjoyed woodworking, yard work and fishing. He served 2 years in the US Army. After basic at Ft. Chaffee, he was stationed at Ft. Eustis, Newport News, Virginia. In 1963, Bobby started working for Barber Coleman in Loves Park, IL. He continued there until he joined the Illinois State Police. After completing the Cadet Class at the ISP Academy, Trooper Henry started his career on I-90 Toll Road between Chicago and Wisconsin before transferring to Pecatonica District 1-A, Bobby then transferred to the ISP Training Academy in Springfield, teaching several courses including Defensive Driving. Sergeant Henry later taught this program at the Kaohsiung Municipal Police Headquarters, in Taiwan. Lt. Henry served as Bureau Chief of Air Operation and Command Center in Central Office. Bobby was promoted to Captain and served as Commander, District 11, Collinsville, IL where he retired on December 31, 1991. Bobby is preceded in death by his son, Bobby L. Henry Jr; daughter, Kathy Ann Henry Williams; brother, Ford (Faye) Henry; sisters, Frances (George) Henry Cole, Juanita Henry, Florene (Ken) Henry Kerr and Janet (Bob) Henry Bagwell, and nephew Jerry Cole.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Frances of the home; sister, Betty Sue Henry Gaither of Bono; three nephews and one niece.
Burial will be private.
