Bobby Joe Couch, Sr.

Bobby Joe Couch, Sr., 83, of rural Brookland, passed from this life on Sunday, October 4, 2020, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Brookland, Bobby lived all of his life in the Brookland and Jonesboro area. He was a 1956 graduate of Brookland High School and retired from General Electric in Jonesboro where he worked 35 years.

Bobby was a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard and was a long-time member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as church bus driver for several years. He enjoyed fishing and turkey and deer hunting. Through the years he also enjoyed gardening and scuba diving. But his greatest joy on earth was spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their events and activities.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents: Clyde and Geneva Darr Couch, and his sister, Joyce Couch Holcomb. The family wishes to extend appreciation and deepest gratitude to the staff at Ridgecrest Nursing Center for the excellent care given to Bobby during his stay there.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Bobby Joe, Jr. and Angie Couch of Brookland;

1 brother and sister-in-law: Buddy and Jackie Couch of Brookland;

2 grandchildren: Zachary Couch and Shelby Couch, both of Brookland;

2 nieces and their husbands: Faith and Jabo Floyd of Gravette, and Paige and Mike McCarley of Lamar;

Several great nephews and nieces, and several great, great nephews and nieces.

Bobby loved the outdoors; and due to the present challenge of indoor gatherings and the Corona virus, the family has chosen to have both visitation and the funeral service outdoors. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Macedonia Cemetery. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Seat officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers include Wayne Winn, Brad Beck, Derrick Elrod, Marty Alexander, Terry Grimes and Michael Darr.  Honorary pallbearers include Jim Stark, Burt Cole and the Jonesboro G.E. Retirees.
