Robert Lee “Bobby” Box, 61, of Woodinville, Washington passed from this life on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. He was born to Robert and Joyce Box on October 9, 1958 in Jonesboro. Bobby achieved bachelor’s degrees from both Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas- Little Rock. He achieved his master’s degree from Bowling Green University in Ohio.
Bobby’s professional life revolved around puppetry and theater. He worked for many years at The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta. While in Atlanta he performed during the Olympic Ceremonies of the 1996 Summer Olympics. Bobby’s career in puppetry took him many places, including China, Argentina, and Amsterdam to consult with shows crossing a variety of cultures. He collaborated with Jimmy Buffet for Herman Wouk’s “Don’t Stop the Carnival”. Bobby won the top UNIMA award in the US Puppet Industry for his acclaimed production “Ann Frank: Within & Without”. In later years Bobby enjoyed a second career in antiques, becoming a founding sponsor of The Mart Collective in Santa Monica, CA.
Bobby is survived by husband Graham Kerr of Woodinville, Washington, parents Robert and Joyce Box of Pocahontas, sisters Becky Baker (Tom) of Pocahontas and Brenda Forthmon (Ronnie) of Benton, nieces Shea Helms (Ryan) & Alison Pike and nephew Derek Pike. Bobby also leaves behind great nephew, Jace; great nieces, Ava, Lillie, and Dani; and a host of other family and friends.
The visitation will be held from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. on January 31 at Emerson Funeral Home with the memorial service to follow at 2:00. Rev. Pat Bodenhamer and Pastor James Wainscott will officiate. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
