Bob Smiley, 65, of Jonesboro passed away suddenly from this life on Tuesday, December 08, 2015 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.
Bob was born in Bernie, Mo on November 2, 1950 to the late Leo and Velma Hoosier Smiley. He was drafted into the military where he served overseas for 2 years with the US Army. He graduated from Arkansas State University with a BSE in Business Management & Economics, and he worked for Utility Trailer in Paragould for 22 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he taught first and second grade Sunday school for the past 25 years. Also his hobbies were fishing, hunting, and especially spending time with his family. His absolute favorite name to be called was what his grandchildren called him,”G-Daddy”; they could always put a smile on his face. He was a meek and kind person that was truly adored by all who knew him. His favorite trip was taken three years ago to Disney with all his family, and he was looking forward to going back to the “Happiest Place on Earth”. He was a quiet and calm man, and his sweet gentle spirit will be missed by many. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Smiley.
He is survived by his loving wife his sweetheart of 44 years, Rhonda Long Smiley; son, Brian and his wife Christian Smiley; daughter Tara and her husband Kiley Coker; three grandchildren, Cameryn Smiley, Morgan Smiley, and Kason Coker all of Jonesboro; brother, Rondell Smiley and his wife Sharon of Bernie, MO; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00a.m. Friday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Edgar “Jody” Gannaway and Keith Long officiating. A private interment with military honors will take place with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Keith Long, Kenneth Tyson, Jonathan Gannaway, Greg Franklin, Rick Miles, Jerry Young, and Mike Mullally. Honorary pallbearers will be Christian Tyson, Clark Tyson, Javan Long, Bradley Franklin, Keegan Gannaway, Daniel Smiley, David Smiley, and Coworkers from Utility Trailer.
Visitation will be from 5-7pm Thursday evening at Emerson Funeral Home.
