Bob Mathes, 73 of Jonesboro, passed from this life Thursday, December 24, 2015 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was born November 1, 1942 to William Ralph Mathes and Vaudine Emerson Mathes in Jonesboro. He enjoyed playing the guitar, working in the garden, Nascar, golf and fishing. Bob worked as a starter and alternator rebuilder. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Glenna, of the home; 1 son, Rick Mathes and wife Tonya; 1 daughter, Peggy White and husband Paul, all of Jonesboro; 2 brothers, Curt Mathes and wife Christy of Livingston, Montana; Greg Mathes and wife Gail of Jacksonville, Flordia; 2 sisters, Peggy Lee and husband Walter of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and Brenda Love of Morrilton. 6 grandchildren, Erik, Blake (Vanessa), Matt (Megan), Rachel (Johnathan), Shane, and Morgan (Shawn and 13 great grandchildren, Joshua, Jaden, Haley, Kaylin, Cameron, Allison, Ryan, Bailey, Jackson, Riley, Braxton, Lyla and Reece.
Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Service will be Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Garry Brown officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Hamby, Paul Hockle, Victor Hutcheson, Steven Perkins, Dr. Michael Isaacson, Gary Craig, David Atkison and Dr. Craig McDaniel. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
