Billy Vick

Billy Joe (Bill) Vick, 81 of Jonesboro, AR passed from this life into eternal life in Heaven surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 5th, 2019. Bill was born July 31, 1938 to Luther Clifton Vick and Celeste Ann Hicks Vick in Jonesboro, AR.

Bill was a graduate of Valley View High School Class of 1957, Jonesboro Business College in 1962 and also proudly served in the National Guard. He worked in retail most of his career, working for McCroys in Jonesboro, Gibson’s Discount Center managing stores in Blytheville, AR and El Dorado, AR then joining Walmart, Inc., where he was a manager and district manager, serving stores in the Southeastern United States. Upon his retirement from Walmart in 2000 he and Lillie moved back to Jonesboro, AR where they made their home on the family farm.

First and foremost Bill was a Christian and exemplified this in every aspect of his life. He was of the Baptist faith and served for many years as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

Bill and Lillie enjoyed traveling and have visited all of the 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii. His grandchildren are left with many cherished memories of the vacations they took every summer traveling the United States. His pride was his family and spending time with them.
Bill’s friendship was a gift to anyone he met. He was a child of God, wonderful son, loving and devoted husband, Dad, Pop, Papaw, Grandpa and Uncle.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Edward, Basil and Raymond Vick and special nephew Dennis K. Loggins.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years and best friend, Lillie Jean McAnally Vick; son’s Clift Vick (Darline) of Huttig, AR and Joey Vick (Rhonda) of El Dorado, AR. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Amanda Rich (Chris) of Hot Springs, AR, Cameron Vick (Carrie) of Keithville, LA; Joshua Rogers of Strong, AR, Dewinn Vick of Jonesboro, AR, Joshua Vick (Paige) of Jonesboro, AR, Adam McInnis (Madyson) of Bentonville, AR, Steven Vick of El Dorado, AR, and Great Grandchildren Katelyn Rogers, Jackson Vick, Dewinn Vick, Jr, Sloan Rich and Aubree Rich. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Visitation to receive friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9th, 2019 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro, AR. A celebration of life service honoring Bill will be Thursday, October 10th, 2019 at Emerson Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Randy Stimach officiating assisted by Bro. Jimmy Thompson and Junior Hicks. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Randy Carlton of Jonesboro, Dr. Michael Wang of MD Anderson, and staff of Hospice Home Care of Little Rock for the loving care given Bill.

Honoring their Grandpa as Pallbearers will be his Grandson’s. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Pot Lickers Devotional Group, Richard Baughn and Jimmy Ward.
