Billy Raymond Rees

Billy Raymond Rees of Jonesboro died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the age of 91. Billy was a graduate of Arkansas State College in 1941 and served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He obtained the rank of Major before his discharge and for many years worked as a navigator for a commercial airline. He was an active businessman and started several businesses during his life.

Billy is survived by his wife of 54 years Ione Cartee Rees; two stepsons, John Randall Payne and wife Scottie Lyons Payne, of Jonesboro, and Dr. Robert Kenneth Payne and wife Julie Jones Payne of Roanoke, VA. Surviving grandchildren are Andrea Reid, John Payne Jr., Thomas Payne, Alice Chavez M.D., Daniel Payne Esq., Christian Thomas Smith, and Billy Raymond "Hunter" Rees III and Great Grandchildren, Camila Chavez and Nicholas Chavez.

He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Raymond Rees Jr. and a daughter, De De Rees.

There will be a private Memorial Service at a later date.
