Billy Gene New

Billy Gene New, 88, of Jonesboro, went Saturday, February 26, 2022, to join his Lord and Savior.  He had lived in Jonesboro for over 49 years.  He was a member of the Refuge Assembly of God Church which he loved dearly.  He is now celebrating with his parents, James and Dollie New; his children, Billy Gene New Jr. and Carol Ann New; two brothers, J.L. New and Buddy New. Oh, what a glorious time they are having.  He was a commercial truck driver most of his career, but owned and operated BL New Heating and Cooling.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Laviece New of the Home; daughters, Linda Rogers and husband, Donnie of Newport; Valerie Hall and husband, Bill of Ellisville, Mississippi; brothers, Jerry New, Bobby New and wife Shirley, Harry New and wife Barbara, Larry New and wife Cathy; sisters, Shirley Richardson and husband Ray; Ella Mae Hoffman; grandchildren, Darren Rogers, Cleatus Rogers, Mary Elizabeth Everett, Justin New, Coco Reid; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Matt Smith officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Burial will be at 3:30 Thursday afternoon at Leachville Cemetery with Rob Brewer, Michael Fort, Micah Cottrell, Lionel Harris, James Turner, and Joey Misak serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time on Thursday.
