Billy Lee Travis

Billy Lee Travis, 76, of Jonesboro, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017, at NEA Baptist Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Fair Oaks, Billy moved to Bay as a young man and was a member of the Bay High School Class of 1957, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He moved to Jonesboro in 1966 and spent several years as a Heating and Air Conditioning technician, working several years for Comfort Mechanical of Jonesboro and Control Heat and Air of Jonesboro. Following retirement, Billy began a 10-year employment with Wal-Mart. He worked as an All-Departments employee at the Parker Road Wal-Mart and thoroughly enjoyed his time there.

Billy was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ in Paragould and enjoyed fishing, wood working, gardening and canning his garden produce. He also enjoyed selling his wood working products at flea markets and he enjoyed camping especially spending time camping at Bayou Access on Spring River.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents: Charles David and Doretha Holloway Travis; a brother, Bobby Gene Travis; and his beloved 4-legged companion, Darci.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Travis of the home;

1 son: Will (Christi) Travis of Jonesboro;

4 daughters: Jennifer (Chris) Fraser of Oneonta, Alabama,
Tonya (Lanny) Guthrie of Warrior, Alabama,
Terrie (Chris) Rolland of Monette, and
Melissa McCluskey of Gardendale, Alabama;

1 brother: Earl C. Travis of Paragould;

2 sisters: Betty Houston of Fayetteville, and Bobbie Sue Bilyeu of Sulphur Rock;

9 grandchildren and
12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 9:30-10:30 Monday in Emerson Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 Monday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Gary Cremeens officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include Paul Cox, Micheal Collins, Andy Watkins, Audie Newton, Steve Wilcoxson and Rusty Stamp.
