Billy Gene Keaton

Billy Gene Keaton, 59, of Jonesboro, died April 27, 2011 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born in Walnut Ridge but had lived in Jonesboro since 1967. He was known as “Shorty” and was always busy tinkering with something. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and spending time with his dog, Lady Bug.

He is survived by his daughter, Juanita (Danny) Laws; mother, Juanita Keaton; brother, Ron Keaton; sisters, Pam Waters and Opal Baker, all of Jonesboro; and his granddaughters, Tiffany Nicole, Alex Jade, and Mallorie Kirsten.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leveda Keaton; father, Jerome Keaton; and his grandparents, Frank & Connie Keaton and Bill & Janie Hensley.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Paul Clark and Glen Hoselton officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers are Shawn Pope, Herbert Ogles, David Jackson, John Williams, Joe Passmore, and Eddie Bounds. Honorary pallbearer will be Danny Laws, Sr.

Visitation will be Sunday 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
