Billy “Joe” Gammill, 75, of Jonesboro passed from this life Thursday, March 29, 2018 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born December 14, 1942 in Bay, to the late Vernon and Geraldine Gammill. He was a graduate of Bay High School. Joe retired after more than thirty years in sales from both Oxford and Lily Chemical Companies. He then became an owner and operator of four nursing homes in the area and later started Millennium Rehab, a rehabilitative therapy company. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Joe enjoyed golfing, boating and spending time at Lake Norfork. He was an avid Cardinals fan and also enjoyed and supported the Red Wolves and any team his grandson Max played on. Joe’s most important thing was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Gammill.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Caren Gammill of the home; daughters, Michelle (Mike) Bacot of Jonesboro, Renee (David) Harmon of Jonesboro; two brothers, Ray (Melissa) Gammill of Jonesboro, Gaylon Gammill of Paragould; one sister, Kay (Phil) Jones of Goreville, Illinois; three grandchildren, Mackenzie (Andrew) Glassell of Germantown, Tennessee, Max Bacot (fiancé Nikki Tagupa) of Jonesboro, Seth Harmon of Jonesboro and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Monday, April 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Miles and Rev. Patty Soward officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with active pallbearers being Marty Spurlock, Dustin Gammill, Scott Gammill, Tom Deuter, Dennis Deuter, Tom Bishop and Heath Gammill. Honorary pallbearers are Glen and Helen Philmon, and members of the Christian Followers Sunday School Class and the Jonesboro Exchange Club.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
The family also wants to give a special thanks to: Dr. David Phillips, Dr. Adam Woodruff, Dr. Russell Degges, Dr. Matt Haustein, Dr. Ray Hall and the Staff of Elite Home Health.
