Billy J. Carter, 94, of Jonesboro, departed this life on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St. Elizabeth’s Place in Jonesboro.
He was born October 8, 1931, in Bay, Arkansas, to the late Clayton and Vashti Carter. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished time spent with his family.
Billy enjoyed the simple things in life. He liked buying scratch-off tickets, playing craps, and going to dog races. He loved being outdoors, taking walks, and spending time with animals. He could often be found enjoying a good cup of coffee and sharing stories from his time in the military with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Carter; two sons, Allen Carter of Jonesboro and William Carter of Paragould; one daughter, Carolyn Sharp (Jerry) of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Daniel Sharp, Rachel Sharp, Jacob Carter, and Nick Carter; and three great-grandchildren, Sunny Sharp, Colbie Cullum, and Denver Russom.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Pine Log Cemetery.
