Billy E. Holmes

Billy E. Holmes, 76, of Jonesboro passed from this life Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born to the late Joseph William and Lillie Mae Holmes on February 19, 1943 in Parkin, Arkansas.
Billy has resided in Jonesboro for the last 30 years, after coming from Parkin where he grew up. He was of the Christian belief.
Billy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time gardening and being outdoors. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them show horses.
In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his two brothers, Paul David Holmes and Walter Edward Holmes; and niece, Diane Winters.
Billy is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mavis Holmes, of the home; one son, Rick Hopkins of Brookland; daughter, Vickie George of Jonesboro; sister, Evelyn Bradley of Hardy; two grandchildren, Heather ( Jerred) Tubbs and Casey George; two great grandchildren, Jagger Tubbs and Annajewel Tubbs; and a great niece and great nephews.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Pine Hill Cemetery.
