Billy Green

Billy Green, 88, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Monday August 1, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born in Cleveland County, Arkansas on March 26, 1928 to the late Lewis Jefferson and Minnie Williams Green. He lived in Jonesboro for four years, moving here from Pine Bluff. He was a retired Lineman and collector for AP&L, now Entergy, and a WWII veteran. He was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, AR.

Bill married the love of his life, Opal Thomasson Green, and they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Coats Green. Brothers, Jimmy, Curtis, and Russell Green.
Survived by his wife, Opal Green of the home, his son Jeff Green and wife (Mary Ann) of Jonesboro, and daughter Debra Joslin and husband Jerry of Judsonia, Ar.

Surviving siblings are his brother, Donald Green of Little Rock, Arkansas, and sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Rosemond, Oregon. Vivian Taylor and Barbara Frizelle both of Cleveland County, Arkansas and Patsy Amick of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Three grandchildren, Austin Green, Emily Pierce (Matt) and Dylan Green all of Jonesboro, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday August 4, 2016 at the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Pine Bluff with Dr. Roger Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday August 5, 2016 with Dr. Archie Mason officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews’.

The family would like to acknowledge Mrs. Helen Travis, truly our visiting angel, for her constant care and affection for dad and mom over the past four years.
