Billy J. Cribbs

Billy J. (Sonny) Cribbs, 76, of Jonesboro passed from this life Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was born in Greene County, Arkansas to Ervin and Ruth Raymer Cribbs.

On June 25, 1965 Billy married the love of his life, Janette (Jan). They enjoyed 53 years together. Billy was a member of Brookland Church of Christ and a retired veteran of the US Army and National Guard. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26 (Jonesboro) where he was Commander for eight years. Billy is also a past Commander of the American Legion Post #21, served for years with the Craighead County Veterans Honor Guard, and also a member of the Craighead County Veterans Monument Foundation. Billy enjoyed gardening and fishing in his free time. In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his half brother, Walter Coomer.

Survivors include his wife, Janette (Jan); sons, Jeffery (Jeff) Cribbs and his wife, Cindy and Jason Cribbs and his wife Leigh Ann all of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Tyler Cribbs and his girlfriend, Kayla Lovell and Jacinda Cribbs all of Jonesboro. Nieces, Lori Gragg Dial of Paragould and Tina Gragg Hill of Ridgely, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Laura Cribbs of Paragould; step sister, Betty McElrath of Jonesboro; half brother, Lafon Coomer and wife, Wanda of Eddyville, Kentucky; half sisters, Pat Parish of Paducah, Kentucky and Lodoska Modissette of Eddyville, Kentucky.

The visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Brookland Church of Christ.

The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Brookland Church of Christ with Bro. Jeff Heitman and Bro. Loyd Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Jody Pickens, Clint Pickens, Tommy McElrath, Charlie Barber, Lance Guest, and Patrick (Pat) Long. The honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26 in Jonesboro, Mr. Perry Vann, and Mr. Troy Rimmer.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
