Billy Ray Cooper

October 6, 1957 — April 28, 2025

Billy Ray Cooper, affectionally known as “Bill” by his friends and family, entered the presence of Jesus early Monday morning, April 28, 2025. He was born on October 6, 1957 to the late Billy and Zelma Cooper. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brother Tony Cooper; and grandmother, Gladys Cooper.

Bill was a born-again believer in Jesus who openly lived his faith on a daily basis. He and his wife were active members of Highland Drive Baptist Church where they joined together to teach young children for many years. He loved studying history and was an avid reader. He loved studying the Bible and talking theology. He loved his church family. He loved his wife. And most of all, he loved Jesus.  After a difficult, but courageous battle with cancer, Bill was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8

Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary M Cooper; and his cousin, Michael Kober.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Hutchison officiating.
