Billy Wayne Brown, 69, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Billy was born in Jonesboro and lived in Missouri and Monette before returning to Jonesboro as a boy and living the majority of his life here. He attended Nettleton School and was retired from City Water and Light where he worked over 33 years in the Water Department.
Billy was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time at the houseboat on the White River and White River Refuge. He thoroughly enjoyed going to the firing range with his son and friends and trying out different weapons. Billy also enjoyed getting together with some of his former CWL friends and visiting about days past.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Devona Turman Brown, mother, Belva Brown Henley, sister, Janice Bolton, sister-in-law, Deloris Turman White, and canine companion "Haley."
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Cindy Brown of Jonesboro;
4 brothers-in-law: Burl Turman, Steve Turman and Melvin White, all of Jonesboro, and Gerald Jaquess and his wife Linda, both of Ripley, Tennessee;
1 granddaughter, Cassi Rowland of Jonesboro and
1 great grandson, Jaylan Rowland of Jonesboro.
Visitation will from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Emerson Funeral Home. A private burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery.
