Billy Ballard, 66, of Oil Trough passed from this life Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born August 9, 1948 in Newport to the late G.W. and Christine Barber Ballard. Billy spent his entire life residing in Oil Trough where he was a member of the Oil Trough United Methodist Church. He was one of the Charter members who founded the Flatwoods Hunting Club which he continued to be a member of. Billy was also part of the 1966 state-runner up Oil Trough high school basketball team where he received all-state honors and went on to play college basketball. He was a sportsman and a Vietnam Veteran.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Mitzi Ann Baker; one brother: Ronnie “Bud” Ballard.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Claudia Ballard, of the home; two sons: Bill Travis (Ashley) Ballard and Patrick (Stephanie) Ballard, both of Oil Trough; one daughter: Lucenthia Warden of Oil Trough; one brother: Sandy Ballard of Batesville; one sister: Virginia "Ginger" (Doyle) Carroll of Oil Trough; five grandchildren: Jadyn Ballard, Shelby Warden, Blayne Warden, Phoenix Ballard, and Jaxyn Ballard.
A memorial service will be held at10 am Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Maple Springs Cemetery with Jim VanOven officiating. A fellowship will follow at the Oil Trough City Hall for all who would like to attend.
