Bill Noell, 76, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was a life-long resident of Jonesboro and was of the Baptist belief. He was a Scout Master for the Bono Boy Scouts and was a member of the Order of the Arrow; president and charter member of the Westside Lions Club; president and charter member of the Westside Athletic Booster Club; a life member of the VFW; a member of the American Legion; a charter member of the Pistols and Petticoats Square Dance Club; a founding member of the Shady Park Rural Water Association; and a member of the 346 Ordinance Association. Bill served in the US Army Reserve for 39 years and worked full time in the civil service. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer CW4.
Bill served as the president and chief Fry Cook for the Cole Corner Community RCI Club and was chairman for the annual fish fry. He was a farmer always willing to help a neighbor or a friend in need and lived by the motto “God and Country”. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Florence Noell, and one sister Joan Noell.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Noell, of the home; sons, Larry Noell and wife Glenda of Leavenworth, Kansas; Doug Noell and wife Lisa of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Jonathan Noell and wife Jessica, of Jonesboro; Casey Noell, Jesse Noell, and Eric Noell all of Leavenworth, Kansas; two great grandchildren Ethan Noell and Halie Noell.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, June 16, 2008 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Jerry Parker and Eulogist Honorable Keith Blackman officiating and burial to be at Unity Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers are grandsons, great grandson, John Smith, Mike Watkins, Steve Watkins and Michael Cerrato. Honorary pallbearers are Allen Hancock, Wayne Chapman, Jerry Smith, Rush Nash, Keith Blackman, Wes McBroome and the members of the 346 Ordinance Association. Visitation will be from 2 – 4 PM, Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
