Bill Gene Carson

Bill Gene Carson, 86, of Jonesboro, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Bill was born in Jonesboro and lived much of his life here. He was a 1951 graduate of Nettleton High School and a graduate of Arkansas State College with a BS in Business. Bill worked many years in banking primarily with one bank which carried different names through the years and was known as Simmons Bank of Jonesboro at Bill's retirement.

Bill was a long-time member of First Christian Church of Jonesboro and the Jonesboro Optimist Club where he was a past officer. He enjoyed duck hunting and gardening; but his greatest love was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren watching them with their sports and endeavors. Bill was preceded in death by a son, Russell "Rusty" Carson.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Wood Carson of the home;
2 sons and daughters-in-law: Steve and Carla Carson, and Brad and Rhonda Carson, all of Jonesboro;
6 grandchildren: Madelyn Carson, Bradyn Carson, Blaine Carson, Wil Carson,
Erin McKinney (Jackson) and Allie Grace.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Chuck Gschwend officiating. There will be no visitation.
