Bettye June Rogers, 89, of Jonesboro went home to be with Jesus Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Bettye was born in Caraway, AR on August 23, 1931. She married her sweetheart, Johnny, and started their life together in Jonesboro. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and the Phebian Sunday School Class. Bettye was a homemaker until the age of 37. She worked at CWL and then found her dream job as the Adventure Travel Club director for several banks in Jonesboro. She planned trips, cruises and excursions to places from NYC, Hawaii, Paris and Ireland. She enjoyed pleasing her travel members and made sure everyone had the trip of a lifetime! She retired at the young age of 85 from First Community Bank. Bettye enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at St. Bernards Village and most of all with her great grands, Lily Grace and Parker.
Bettye is preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnny Mack Rogers; parents Claude and Cleo Blevins Pyland; brothers, Charles and Bill Pyland; sister, Dora Bea Pyland Rogers; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. RT Blevins; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Pyland.
She is survived by her son, John Mack Rogers Jr. “Skip” and wife Rhonda of Jonesboro; daughter, Candy Rogers Ballard, and husband, Steve of Jonesboro; She had three granddaughters all of Jonseboro; Dr. Emily Ballard Gairhan and husband Scott; Lindsay Rogers Lara and husband Jason; Jessica Rogers Walls and husband Seth. She had two precious great grandchildren who always put a smile on her face; Lily Grace and Parker Scott Gairhan. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and close friends. The family is grateful for the doctors at St. Bernards Medical Center and the loving nurses at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House. They are also thankful for the care and love she received from her time spent at St. Bernards Village.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 30 at the First Baptist Church on Main Street. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a service following at 11:00 am in the sanctuary. Nephew, Dr. Tad Rogers, and Brother Rodney Reeves will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro.
