Betty Jean Thompson, 76, of Jonesboro passed from this life on January 6, 2024. She was born to the late Bonnie and Evie Thompson on April 25, 1947 in Wayne County, Tennessee. Betty was of the Missionary Baptist belief and was in the nursing profession during her working years. She was an animal lover and enjoyed watching game shows, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. However, her grandchildren and her family were the most important aspect of her life. In addition to her parents, Betty is also preceded in death by an infant sister, Wanda Lee.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Jennifer White (Brian) of Helena; sisters, Stella Riggs (Jerry) of Jonesboro and Annette Springle (Franklin) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Nathan White and Ryan White; nephews and nieces, Michael Riggs, Chris Riggs (Tiffany), John Springle (Danielle), and Susan Scales. Betty also leaves behind a host of other family, friends, and her cat Smokey to mourn her loss.

A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Emerson Funeral Home.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Emerson Funeral Home with Wynndel King officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Nathan White, Michael Riggs, Chris Riggs, Matthew Riggs, Alex Riggs, and John Springle.
