Betty Jean Sailor

Betty Jean Sailor, 85, of Jonesboro passed from this life Saturday, April 26, 2014 at NEA Baptist Hospital. She was born July 21, 1928 to the late Clarence and Josie McDonald in Trumann. Betty has lived in Jonesboro for over 40 years before coming from Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan. Betty and her late husband Jesse were the owner and operators of the Court Square Restaurant in Jonesboro from 1971 – 1985. She worked for the state of Arkansas and the Salvation Army and also received many awards for her services. Betty was such a loving woman who fostered over 100 children throughout her life. She was very loved and will be missed by many. Betty was of the Baptist belief and belonged to the Good Sam RV Club.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband Jesse Garland Sailor; her parents; and four brothers: Clarence “Hootsie” McDonald, Bob McDonald, Bill McDonald, and Marvin “Mac” McDonald.

Survivors include two sons: Jesse Donald Sailor (Sue) of Mt. Ida and Rusty Sailor of Jonesboro; one daughter: Linda Kaye McClain of Rancho Cucamonga, California; eight grandchildren: Eric Sailor, Amy Morgan, Dawn Moore (Chris), Dr. Jennifer Anderson (Jeff), Jimmy McClain, Jeff McClain, Jessica McClain and Ilia Hartley, and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday April 30, 2014 afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Shawn Brandon officiating. Burial will follow in Herman Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Donald Sailor, Eric Sailor, Rusty Sailor, Johnny McDaniel, Jim Foster, and Chris Moore.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to two very special people: Wanda Patterson and Aunt Alma Jean McDonald.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 29, 2014 evening, 5-7 at Emerson Funeral Home.
