Betty Tolice Morris Long, 90, of Newport, passed away on June 25, 2025 at Unity Health in Newport. She was born on December 31, 1934 in Bay to William Henry Sullivan and Grace Inez Seward Sullivan.
Betty spent the last 21 years living in Newport where she attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was an animal lover, especially exotics, and raised ostriches and swans over the years. Betty enjoyed playing Bingo and found joy tending to her flower beds. All flowers were beautiful to her, but yellow roses were her favorite. Betty loved her family and was always an advocate of her children’s dreams and careers. She supported her daughter, Shellee’s, passion for music, and skillfully managed their band.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel Delano Montgomery, LG Morris, and James “Pete” Long, and her son, Samuel Stephen Montgomery.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie Gail Montgomery Creech (Marvin) of Cassville, Missouri, Lance Glenn Morris of Jonesboro, and Shellee Tolice Morris of Jonesboro; brother, Cephas Dewayne “Bud” Sullivan of Harrisburg; nephew, Jeff Sullivan of Trumann; eight grandchildren; and many beloved great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations please be made to your local humane society.
A visitation will be held at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland with Bro. Bill Chambers officiating and family and friends serving as pallbearers.
