On June 13, 1953, Betty married Ernest Miles, a marriage lasting 61 years until Ernest’s death in September of 2014. Betty was an avid and astute bridge player and was awarded the distinction of “Life Master” by the American Contract Bridge League. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, and traveling. Her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and her only great grandchild have sweaters, scarves, and other items that she knitted for each of them. She had literally traveled all over the world and enjoyed her trips to Alaska, China, India, the Holy Land, Egypt, the British Isles, and many of the countries of Europe.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest, a brother-in-law Wayne Miles, a sister-in-law Lorene Miles, and a great-nephew Cody Broadway. She is also survived by three brothers-in-law, Charles Miles of Huntsville, Alabama, Bill (Ann) Miles of Jonesboro, and Freddie (Ruth Ann) Miles of Jonesboro, two sisters-in-law, Aliene (Bill) Clifft of Bono, and Glenda Miles of Jonesboro and a host of nieces and nephews.

Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro and truly enjoyed attending the traditional worship service held in the Chapel each Sunday morning as long as her health permitted. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 am.
